The Company

what is amway all about

People ask me this a lot, “Is Amway A Pyramid Scheme?”  Well, I’ll answer that in a moment.  First, let’s take a look at Amway’s roots.

Amway came into existence in 1959 fulfilling the dreams of Rich Devos and Jay Van Andel who wanted to own their own company.  Now, more than 50 years later, the company is still flourishing and is established in more than 100 countries worldwide.  Today, it remains the top profit producing network marketing business in the world.

To this day, Amway’s fundamentals are …

  • FREEDOM
  • FAMILY
  • HOPE
  • REWARD

Altogether, a celebrated message and, heretofore, I have seen no evidence of any “Amway Scam” going on.  So, let’s dig a little deeper and delve into their product line.

Amway Products

what is amway

As far as products are concerned, they’ll never be short with all that they have to offer.  Their products include anything from beauty products to laundry detergents to health supplements.

Out of all the multi-level marketing companies out there, Amway has one of the largest product lines in the world.  I won’t list all of their products here as they would take up the entire article but, if you’re interested in checking them out further, I’ve provided a link to their website at the top of the page.

After I took a look at their product prices, I found them to be a bit pricey; however, they allege it’s on account of product quality and developmental research.  Perhaps, their target market is middle to upper middle-class people?  Definitely, not the budget-minded.

Generally, I fail to see anything bad going on with them.  Their products are simply priced a bit too high for my liking.

As with all network marketing businesses, you earn by sponsoring people into the company.  So, now, let’s take a look at Amway’s compensation plan.

Amway Compensation Plan

Rather than me trying to define their compensation play, Amway does it quite well; after all, it is their business.

As you can see from the video, Amway’s compensation plan is quite powerful for the right kind of person.  It’s all about sponsoring people and having them reproduce the same amount of effort you put into it so that they will achieve corresponding results.  This is exactly where a lot of people hit the skids because they have no clue how to sponsor people.

So, here’s the thing, if your group can’t reproduce your results you won’t achieve success on a massive scale.

My Final Verdict

After taking a look at the company, the allegations that Amway is a scam is false.  If it was a scam, they’d have been axed AGES ago.  In fact, because they have products for you to sell, it means they aren’t a pyramid scheme.  I have no clue why people are going around saying that.  Likely, they don’t really know what a pyramid scheme is.

This is a definition of a pyramid scheme: “a form of investment (illegal in the US and elsewhere) in which each paying participant recruits two further participants, with returns being given to early participants using money contributed by later ones.”  Hello, Amway sells products.  LOL

There a ton of people highly critical of Amway out there reviewing them and just raking them over the coals, but Amway is totally legit.

The issue is people have no clue whatsoever on how to sponsor other people.  All you have to do is go out and learn the skills to turn yourself into a sponsoring monster which is easily attained via personal development.

Have you had success or no success with Amway?  Either way, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

I have certainly heard of Amway as far as its negative reputation is concerned yet they have an NBA arena named after them which intrigues me.

The mark up prices are a bit much though.

Anyways, do you think that they are focused on to many different markets? They have health and fitness products, beauty products, etc.

Jessie, thanks for dropping by my site and reading my review.

I agree that the prices are a bit high for my liking, but their explanation is that they have high quality products. I believe their target audience is middle to upper class.

As far as the number of products they have, on the one hand, I can see your concern that the quality might slip due to the amount of products they offer; however, they seem to have it covered. They wouldn’t be around for so long if the products were bad. On the other hand, from a selling standpoint, you can offer your customers a lot more.

If you are looking for a legitimate online business that does not require any selling or recruiting then please check out my review of Wealthy Affiliate. You simply can’t go wrong with them.
