If you use beauty and skin care products regularly, then you’ve likely stumbled upon L’Bri. This business has several product lines consisting of skin and hair products as well as cosmetics. What’s really wonderful about L’Bri’s products is that a lot of them contain aloe vera extract as their main ingredient. Also, they aim to utilize natural ingredients like essential oils, nut butters and plant oils.
So, you love the product and are considering becoming an independent consultant, but you’re wondering, “Is L’Bri a scam?” Let’s take a look.
L’Bri Pure & Natural launched in 1998 by Linda and Brian Kaminski who maxed out all of their credit cards, mortgaged their home, sold their cars and boats and even had a garage sale to get the business up and running. Their entire story can be found in their book here.
L’Bri products are comparably priced to Mary Kay and Avon and are not nearly as expensive as Estee Lauder or Lancôme. Facial creams cost on average $20 per jar and skin care sets cost approximately $50.
You can buy L’Bri products online at their website. Once you’ve finished shopping and want to check out, you’re not required to connect with an independent consultant.
Alternatively, you can join L’Bri as an independent consultant and earn commissions and products from the company. So, how does that work?
L’Bri products can’t be found in retail stores. Rather, L’Bri sells its products to and via independent consultants, who then turn around and sell them to their customers in order to receive a commission on those sales. Essentially, the business operates via a direct sales model. Also, L’Bri pays consultants commissions for recruiting other consultants. As a result of this, the business functions as a multi-level marketing (MLM) business.
Home Party Compensation
If you love L’Bri’s products, you can get reduced and even free products simply by hosting a party. Here’s L’Bri’s compensation plan:
Remember, on top of selling an established amount of products, you also require somebody at your party to make arrangements to host the next L’Bri party or you will not get any product compensation.
If you prefer selling L’Bri products directly to customers and wish to become an independent consultant for the company, you are first going to need to buy a product showcase. You have two showcases to select from: the skin care showcase for $135, which only contains skin care products, or the full showcase for $350, which contains both makeup and skin care products.
Additionally, you receive a personally dedicated website and sample products.
Independent consultants do not inevitably have to buy products themselves prior to selling those products to their customers. Nevertheless, the commissions they receive are much higher if consultants buy products outright. For instance, at the consultant level, you make 30% commission on items that you directly order from L’Bri, but only make 23% commission on items that are bought online through your website.
The whole commissions structure for L’Bri is marked out below and displays the four different consultant levels that can be attained:
The bonuses for sponsoring that are displayed are popularly referred to as downline commissions, or commissions you earn from the generated sales of the people you have recruited.
So, is it worth the money and time to become a L’Bri Independent Consultant? Here are the Pros and Cons.
Pros And Cons
Awesome Products – L’Bri sincerely tries to invent and market products that have “Pure And Natural” ingredients. The ingredients are listed openly on L’Bri’s website where it explains what every one does.
Moderate Pricing – L’Bri’s skin care and the other items they offer are moderately priced; moreover, customers are not required to purchase a membership if they simply want to purchase the products outright.
Commissions Are Low – independent consultants may not be required to purchase products outright, but it definitely makes it difficult to receive a high commission if they don’t. Consultants receive a mere 23% on the products that are sold via their website. So, for you to receive higher commissions, you either have to be hosting loads of parties and directly taking in customer’s orders or you will be purchasing products ahead in order to sell them at even more home parties or at shows.
The Market Is Limited – L’Bri’s skin care and cosmetics are geared towards only women. It’s rather unfortunate, on account of aloe vera products could quite easily be developed for men, or simply be marketed in categories that are gender neutral such as for healing wounds or protection from the sun. However, because they are not, you simply can’t market your products to everyone and anticipate sales.
Personal Volume Stipulation – It would be awesome if all you needed to do to make commissions was establish a website and produce 23% from each sale that periodically came in. Unfortunately, it is not that easy. As an independent consultant, you are required to make at least $200 in sales every month if you want to receive any commissions. What that means is, you’ll probably be hosting a minimum of one party a month to earn that $46. Either that, or you will be getting into side business such as this so you can sell products:
There is hardly any or zero marketing training. According to Glassdoor Reviews, L’Bri has one recurring complaint – the fact that they don’t offer any direction on how to expand beyond doing home parties to market and sell products to the general public. On account of L’Bri focusing mainly on a “warm” audience, you will not have the know-how to contact third-party customers and increase your sales.
The Final Verdict
L’Bri provides awesome products at economical prices. Sadly, this is where L’Bri’s benefits come to an end. L’Bri’s business opportunity is risky because you’re required to generate an established sales volume every month. On top of that, you have to inspire your downline to achieve the necessary sales volume or you won’t receive any bonuses.
Are you presently selling L’Bri products or were you an independent consultant in the past? I’d love to here what you experienced with the company. Please leave your comments below.
